Thoughtful Psalm for the Traveller

Psalm 25:1-5

Psalm 25 is a song for the traveller. Having chosen the “way of life”, the righteous traveller then recognizes the difficult of walking alone; there is great need of the companionship and friendship of God. But can I trust the LORD not to let me down? Enemies or past sins can cause doubt about God’s ability to “come through”. But Psalm 25 tells me that I will not be disappointed if I choose to trust the LORD.

Helps for the Traveller

It’s been said that even if you’re on the right road you could get run over if you don’t keep moving. So what helps the Christian to keep moving and maturing on the righteous road? The character of God and the attitude of my heart will determine whether I walk well, or even continue walking when the road of righteousness becomes difficult.

Part 3
Prayer for Guidance

Psalm 25:16-22

Troubles, trials, affliction, pain – some of the ways the writer of this Psalm describes his current condition as he travels through life. In concluding this Psalm he prays. There is intensity in his prayers; a deep desire for God to “take notice of him”, to rescue and deliver him. God has promised to help – but there are conditions: such as integrity and holiness. How deep is our own walk with God?
